A New look for Health Insurance

By Jeff Cline

Consumers are looking for a new kind of health plan and carriers are stepping up to the plate to deliver. The demands for more affordable, but functional health insurance is being met. These new fangled plans are affordable, help you control cost and help you stay healthy.

One such plan is the Solaura HIA(Health Incenetive Account) that UniCare introduced. It is somewhat fashioned after the popular and ever popular HSA's. But it focuses more on rewards then contribuations. You can earn funding by improving health.

With the Solaura plan you are automatically awarded quarterly allotments to help meet the deductible. Individuals get $125 a quarter and a family $250. Unused money rolls over year to year and there is no limit.

Have you thought about taking control of your weight? How about throwing out the tobacco? Will they have programs that can earn you dollars in your account if you complete. And you earn your first $50 just for logging on to do an online assessment.

One key factor to this plan is the importance it plays on preventive screenings. It pays for your annual preventative screening 100%. It covers the office visit, most screenings, including a pap test and even tons of immunizations.

Experts are saying that early detections saves thousands of dollars and consumers and insurers are picking up on this. Many new plans are promoting healthy habits and annual screenings of ways of controlling cost. Some like the above plan is even offering incentives.

These kind of plans promote good health, which in turn saves you hundreds of dollars. And for someone trying to cut cost it is an excellent way to cut those benefits that you rarely use and only pay for the important stuff.

Don't let a sales agent put you in a plan that only gets 20% use. Why pay for the extra 80% if you do not need it. Tell them you want a plan that focuses on health. Not something that is expecting me to see a doctor for every bump and bruise. Because we just can not afford that these days.
