Affordable Car Insurance And Teen Drivers

By Chimezirim Odimba

It's a known fact that young drivers attract high rates. Even in this age bracket, a 23-year old driver will pay much less than a 17 year old all other things being equal.

This means that you'll help keep your rates down if you do NOT have a teen driver on your policy. You'll be made to pay very high rates if you do otherwise. Sign an exclusion form that will allow your teen driver have his or her own policy.

It's a fair price for them to pay to enjoy the adult privilege of driving. This act will save you more than money as your teen driver will happily listen when suggestions are made on things that will bring down the high rates they pay. This by extension means that such a teen driver will be more responsible behind wheels since they bear the full cost of their actions.

1. We all are aware of the fact that no age bracket pays as much for auto insurance as drivers who are less than 25. If you fall into this age bracker you can attract lower rates if you maintain good grades at school.

The good student discount is for those who get A's or a minimum of B's. It attracts a discount of about five percent. Reckless under-25 drivers are not likely to keep getting good grades.

2. You'll get a No Claims bonus or discount if you do not make any claims for about four years. Here's a tip: Even though you might have cause to make a claim, don't if they are minor issues. So check what it will cost you to fix the problem and what you'll gain with a No Claims discount and choose whichever will serve your best interest.

3. Using your parents' auto insurance policy is a different alternative for you an under 25. The fact that you're of driving age means that your parents are of a better risk age bracket.

You must remember that the vehicle must be registered in their name and you must be living with them if you want to use this option. If you do not like the idea of giving the car's ownership to them and other stuff that may be attached to that, then you'll have to forget this option.

4. There are classes that are designed to make you a better driver. Join them. Apart from the fact that this will make you a better driver, it will show your insurer that you're ready to change for the better.

5. You will save a lot if you really have between 25-30 minutes. Visit, obtain and compare auto insurance quotes from several quotes sites. The lowest quote should be your choice easily.

But, you have to look beyond simply the lowest price to the best price to value ratio. The lowest priced may not offer the best price/value for you as an individual.
